Notes
The "Finance and Taxes" department is responsible for setting and assessing taxes (business tax, property tax, amusement tax and dog tax) and levies (street cleaning fees, waste disposal fees, cemetery fees). The allocation of public waste disposal services, including advising and informing citizens, companies, associations etc. on waste disposal issues, is also part of the remit of the "Finance and Taxes" department, as is the construction and expansion of cemeteries and their maintenance. This also includes the provision of burial sites, the rental, renewal and withdrawal of rights of use of burial sites as well as the scheduling and invoicing of burials.
The "Finance and Taxes" department is also responsible for the following areas:
- Revenue and expenditure accounting, short-term liquidity planning and preparation of the annual financial statements for the municipal balance sheet.
- Dunning and enforcement proceedings for claims of the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer as well as administrative and enforcement assistance for claims of other authorities and institutions (attachment of receivables, attachment of property, real estate enforcement).
