For three weeks, everything in the Kleve district revolved around the theme “Reaching Your Destination on Two Wheels—Climate Protection in the Kleve District.” This year’s STADTRADELN campaign encouraged 8,100 residents throughout the district to hop on their bikes and leave their cars at home a little more often. Now that all the kilometers cycled have been tallied, the official results are in.
The pilgrimage town of Kevelaer moved up one spot compared to last year. It now ranks fifth, just ahead of Emmerich, in a comparison of the 16 municipalities in the Kleve district. The top-ranked municipality in the district was the city of Kleve, followed by Geldern, Goch, and Rees.
Rating of the Pilgrimage Town of Kevelaer
A total of 571 active cyclists participated—nearly 100 more than in 2025. The 43 teams cycled a total of 125,000 km (24,000 km more than before) and saved 21 metric tons of CO₂ over the course of the three weeks. Participants included teams of all sizes from clubs, companies, government agencies, and families, as well as many individual cyclists. Many “old friends” who have been cycling along for years, as well as new participants, took part. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to this great result. For the second time, there was also a separate category for SCHOOL CYCLING. Four schools participated with large teams.
