Starting Monday (Oct. 5), Straßen.NRW’s Lower Rhine regional office will begin work on another construction phase between Kevelaer-Winnekendonk and Sonsbeck. As part of the construction of a new roundabout, the roadway of the L362 between Xantener Straße and the Winnekendonk town boundary will first be resurfaced.
To this end, the section is expected to be completely closed for six weeks (from October 5 to November 16). The usual access route via Binnenheide to residents and businesses will not be available. However, residents and businesses will still be accessible. Access to the L362 in this section will also be unavailable during the work.
For traffic, Straßen.NRW has set up a detour: from Sonsbeck or the Sonsbeck A57 interchange toward Winnekendonk via Wildpaßweg, the L460 (Balberger Straße), the K49 (Hestert), and then the L362 (Kervenheimer Straße) to Winnekendonk. From Winnekendonk toward Sonsbeck or the A57, the detour follows the same route in the opposite direction.
The intersection of Kervenheimer Straße, Sonsbecker Straße, and Kevelaerer Straße will be controlled by a traffic light system during construction.
A detour will also be set up for cyclists.
In parallel with the work on the L362, the Niederrhein regional office of Straßen.NRW is completing the bypass between the L491 (Xantener Straße) and the L362 (Alter Steeg/Achterhoek) and will open it to traffic as part of the new construction phase. This means the route to Geldern / Kapellen is once again open to traffic.
