Important connection for the city and region
Line 73 connects Kevelaer station with Weeze Airport via the stops "Rathaus", "Solegarten St. Jakob" and "Irrland". There are also special trips at certain times, where the bus travels to Lüllingen and Geldern via Twisteden. These journeys were introduced in 2021 so that pupils from Twisteden can reliably reach the school in Geldern.
More comfort for passengers
In order to offer passengers more space and comfort even in quieter times, NIAG will be using standard buses in future instead of the previous combination of minibuses and regular-service buses.
Flexibility through special right of termination
The contract includes a six-monthly special right of termination so that we as the city administration can react flexibly to new public transport offers.
Joint financing
Funding is provided jointly by the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer, the town of Geldern and Weeze Airport. The airport and the town of Geldern have signaled that they will cover their share despite increasing subsidies. In Geldern, the final decision will be made on Thursday, October 2, in the non-public part of the main, social and finance committee.
Line 73 thus remains a reliable and important connection for the region.
