On November 19, the mayors of the Kleve district met with the district administrator in Rees for the first time since the local elections. In addition to getting to know each other, the focus was also on factual issues such as the extremely challenging municipal finances.
Rainer Weber from Uedem was re-elected as spokesperson for the mayors' conference, while Dominik Pichler from Kevelaer remains his deputy.
District Administrator Christoph Gerwers agreed with the "old" and "new" mayors that the regular meetings lead to building mutual trust, tackling common issues together and pulling in the same direction. Even though the next five years will be challenging, the joy of getting things moving together over the next five years prevailed at the meeting. "The municipalities and towns will only be able to master the pressing challenges together as a municipal family," said Mayor Rainer Weber, Chairman of the Conference of Chief Municipal Officers in the Kleve district, hoping for support from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the federal government.
