With the innovative event format "Parking lot of opportunities", a new platform for career guidance for young people is being created in Kevelaer. The aim of the event is to bring companies and potential trainees together at an early stage and make career prospects tangible in a practical way.
To this end, the approximately 1,200 m² parking lot at the Youth and Administration Center (JVZ) in Kevelaer will be transformed into an interactive world of experience around training and careers for one day. The area offers space for around 25 companies to present themselves and their daily work in a practical way. Pupils then have the opportunity to actively try out different occupational fields and talk directly to companies from the region.
The special thing about the concept is that companies not only present themselves with information material, but also design their own hands-on stations where typical activities of their training occupations can be experienced in practice. Participation is flexible - for example with a pavilion, an information stand or creative activity areas.
"The focus is on direct exchange at eye level and trying things out for yourself," explains Thorsten Stern, Head of Job Placement at the job center in the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer and coordinator of the Kevelaer Youth Employment Agency. "We want to give young people guidance and at the same time offer companies the opportunity to present themselves as attractive training companies."
The event thus makes an important contribution to securing skilled workers in the region and strengthens the link between schools and business.
Companies from Kevelaer and the surrounding area are cordially invited to actively participate and become part of this forward-looking format.
