At the initiative of the Climate Adaptation Team and the Schools and Sports Department, an information board on UV and heat protection was installed at the outdoor pool. It is located on the wall along the path to the changing rooms. The information board displays the UV index value provided by the German Weather Service for the current day using an arrow indicator.
The goal of this campaign is to better protect beachgoers during their leisure activities by providing visible information on the current UV index, tips on appropriate clothing, sunscreen, and head coverings, as well as guidance on how to behave safely in strong sunlight. The initiative is intended to help reduce sun-related risks and raise awareness of preventive safety measures.
The sign is part of the nationwide awareness campaign “WATCH OUT,” which was launched in 2022 by German Cancer Aid and the Working Group on Dermatological Prevention (ADP).
The poster is accompanied by a QR code that visitors can scan to access further information. Additional informational materials are also available on site upon request.
