When the smell of popcorn fills the city center, the laughter of young and old alike rushes across the squares and a deep voice announces the next ride in the Disco Jet through the loudspeaker, then it's time again in Kevelaer: Völ Glöcks met de Kermes!
From 14 to 18 May 2026, Kevelaer city center will once again become a colorful fairground. More than 50 exhibitors will provide entertainment with a successful combination of proven highlights and exciting innovations.
Crowd favorites, such as the Disco Jet or the "Hot Road" bumper car, are also a must on the fairground this year. The "Jetleg" ride on Roermonder Platz will definitely provide an adrenaline rush with its combination of high speed and various spinning movements. For the first time, Peter-Plümpe-Platz will be home to a fairground ride: "Big Bamboo" offers a walk-through adventure world in South Seas style with live shows, animations, music and drama for the whole family.
Mayor Dr. Dominik Pichler is looking forward to the funfair days: "The Kevelaerer Kirmes is a highlight in our calendar of events. Following the completion of the Peter-Plümpe-Platz, I am all the more pleased this year that we are coming together to celebrate on the new square. "
Tradition and entertainment - the funfair program:
This year's host club and thus organizer of the supporting program is the Bürger-Schützen Gesellschaft Kevelaer e.V. 1881, with Stefan Boßmann and his adjutant Georg Vloet carrying the festival chain.
The marquee and adjoining beer garden are once again located on the Bürgerplatz on Annastrasse.
As every year, the fair will be ceremonially opened on Ascension Day, 14 May, at 11 a.m. with the traditional barrel tapping by Mayor Dr. Dominik Pichler. Other highlights of this year's funfair program:
- Friday, May 15: Party with Lost Identity and others in the marquee
- Saturday, May 16: Handover of the festival chain followed by a parade through the town
- Sunday, May 17: Morning pint in the marquee
- Monday, May 18: Closing with burning of the "Kermespop" and fireworks on Mechelnerplatz
