Purpose of data processing
The purpose of data processing is to process your lost and found inquiry as part of the duties of the lost and found office of the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer.
This includes in particular
- recording your details of the lost item,
- contact in the event of a find or queries,
- the allocation of lost property to loss reports,
- the decision on surrender or other measures under lost property law.
Your personal data will only be processed to deal with your request and will not be used for other purposes (purpose limitation).
Main legal basis
Your personal data is processed on the following legal basis:
Art. 6 para. 1 c) GDPR (fulfillment of a legal obligation) in conjunction with the provisions of the German Civil Code (BGB), §§ 965 - 984 (lost property law)
Recipients and categories of recipients of the data
Your personal data will only be processed within the scope of data protection law. Recipients may be in particular
- internal departments of the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer within the scope of processing,
- Finders, insofar as this is necessary for the return of the lost property in accordance with the legal requirements (§ 971 BGB - finder's fee, documentation of return).
Your personal data will not be transferred to third countries.
Duration of storage and retention periods
Your data will only be stored for as long as is necessary for the lawful fulfillment of the tasks of the lost and found office.
This includes in particular:
- the duration of the storage and administrative procedure,
- subsequent storage obligations in accordance with municipal and archiving regulations.
As a rule, the retention period is 6 years after completion of the process. After this period has expired, the data will be deleted unless there are legal reasons for longer storage.
Rights of the data subject
Your rights to information, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, data transfer and objection regarding the personal data collected are expressly pointed out at this point. The legal basis for this is Articles 15 to 21 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation and Sections 49 and 50 of the NRW State Data Protection Act.
