The Peter-Plümpe-Platz around the town hall has been completed. This not only marks the end of this construction project - the comprehensive renovation of the Kevelaer city center is now also complete.
The square has been given a new look and once again invites people to linger, stroll and meet. Right in the heart of the city, a place has been created where people can come together, take a break or simply enjoy life in the city center.
Celebrate together - you are cordially invited
A milestone like this deserves to be celebrated. That is why the town of Kevelaer cordially invites all citizens, project participants and interested parties to celebrate the completion of the town center renewal together.
- Saturday, April 25
- from 11 am
- Citizens' square at Peter-Plümpe-Platz
After a short official welcome, the relaxed part of the day begins: with music, food and drinks as well as small activities for young and old. A great opportunity to discover the new square and get into conversation with each other.
A place for encounters
Mayor Dr. Dominik Pichler is delighted with the completion of the project: "Peter-Plümpe-Platz is at the heart of our city center. It has become a place of encounter and togetherness - a place where our citizens enjoy spending time. I am very much looking forward to celebrating this moment together."
Background: The city center renewal
Since 2016, Kevelaer's city centre has been developed and modernized step by step. The basis for this is the integrated action plan for Kevelaer town center from 2015, which forms the basis for the urban development funding.
Several important projects have already been implemented in recent years, including
- the redesign of the main street
- the Mechelner Platz
- the chapel square
- the Johannes-Stalenus-Platz
With the completion of Peter-Plümpe-Platz, the last major construction project has now been completed.
