Following the constituent meeting of the Youth Welfare Committee, new members were also appointed to the Playground Commission. The commission has also expanded in line with the increase in political parties.
The first meeting of the newly formed playground commission began with an inspection of the new large playground equipment at the "Am Hagelkreuz" playground in Kevelaer (North). This spacious playground offers many opportunities, including free play on the grass, and is therefore ideal for families living in the neighboring houses.
After this positive summary, the commission went to the "Lindenhoher Weg" playground in Twisteden, where they were warmly welcomed by the head of the village, Paul Schaffers. To everyone's delight, some children played on the new large playground equipment and the smaller new playground equipment was also used diligently. The group photo with the playground commission and administrative staff was taken during a short break.
The highlight of the playground inspection was the "bird's head" of the new quadruple seesaw on the "Lindenhoher Weg playground", which was donated by the "Bunte Vogelwelt Twisteden e.V." association. The wooden owl on the play equipment represents the connection of the donor association, which is deeply rooted in Twisteden.
After gathering their impressions, the playground commission discussed future planning approaches and proposals for implementation. The next commission meeting will take place in March 2026 to focus on planning measures.
Families and visitors to Kevelaer can therefore continue to look forward to an extensive range of children's playgrounds with durable and modern play equipment.
The pilgrimage town of Kevelaer has a large number of children's playgrounds, which can be viewed on an interactive map on the municipal utilities' website, illustrating the high density and variety of playgrounds.
