With the move, we are bundling important departments in one location. The Youth, Social Affairs, Schools, Sport and Job Center departments (including Citizens' Benefits and Job Placement) will be housed together in the new Youth and Administration Center (JVZ). This will shorten the distances for citizens - and make work processes more efficient.
The schedule at a glance
- Thursday, May 15, 2025: The location on Hoogeweg will remain closed
- Monday, May 19, 2025: New location remains closed (internal facility)
- Tuesday, May 20, 2025: Opening of the JVZ at Kroatenstraße 85 in Kevelaer
What can you expect at the new location?
The new youth and administration center was built on the site of the former Virginia Satir School. The old building was extensively renovated and extended. In future, the Kompass youth center, the youth employment agency and the educational part of the youth welfare office will be housed here. The ensemble is complemented by a modern new administration building, into which the other departments will move.
The new location is characterized by its open, bright architecture, which deliberately focuses on encounters and transparency. In addition to functional administration rooms, the first floor of the youth area offers recreational facilities, a kitchen and meeting rooms. A chill lounge with a party and work room will be created in the basement, which will open in June 2025.
Not everything ready yet - but ready for the start
Although the most important work has been completed, some final measures - for example in the outdoor area - are still ongoing. The parking spaces in front of the building are currently only available to a limited extent. We therefore ask both visitors and employees for their understanding for minor restrictions during the first few weeks at the new location.
Investing in the future - with strong support
Around 4 million euros in funding was provided for the conversion and extension from the "Social Integration in the Neighbourhood NRW" investment pact - funded by the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Building and the State Ministry of Homeland, Municipal Affairs, Building and Digitization. Further funding, for example for a photovoltaic system, supplements the financing.
