On Monday, May 19, 2025, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m., the digital interim presentation of the climate impact adaptation concept of the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer will take place. All citizens are cordially invited to find out about the current status online and contribute their own ideas.
Why does Kevelaer need a climate impact adaptation concept?
Since the end of 2024, the city has been working with the consulting firm Drees & Sommer and AlpS on a strategy to better prepare Kevelaer for the consequences of climate change. The aim is to make the city more resilient to extreme weather conditions and to permanently integrate climate issues into political and planning decisions - for example in construction projects or urban greening.
What has happened so far
The findings to date will be presented at the event. These are based, among other things, on a comprehensive inventory and several workshops in which representatives of local institutions - such as the fire department and schools - have also been involved. Climate Adaptation Manager Leon Schlüter emphasizes how important local knowledge is for a viable concept.
Participation desired
In addition to exciting insights from the expert teams, there will once again be an interactive part where all participants can contribute their opinions and suggestions. The use of a computer or laptop is recommended to ensure smooth participation. A smartphone can also be helpful - for example for surveys during the presentation.
How to take part
Participation is uncomplicated: You can access the event directly via konferenz.kevelaer.de.
