Exchange of experience between senior citizens' representatives from Kevelaer and Essen

The Essen delegation presented several tried-and-tested measures: a regular senior citizens' cinema, the guide for older generations and a special dementia guide. The "Walk in the district - will you walk with me" campaign, which focuses on social contact and exercise, was also very popular. The "Week of the Older Generation" offered numerous events in various parts of the city.

The Kevelaer Seniors' Advisory Council also contributed many ideas. The health fair was particularly well received. In addition, on the initiative of the advisory board, park and rest benches were equipped with emergency coordinates, emergency cards and cans were distributed and lectures on precaution, care and fraud prevention were offered. In view of the upcoming local elections, dialog was sought with the political parties in order to address senior citizen policy issues at an early stage.

Both sides were impressed by each other's commitment and would like to continue the dialog - for the benefit of the older generation in both cities.

Here you will find further information on the Kevelaer Pilgrimage Town Seniors' Advisory Council.
