The summer vacations are just around the corner - and with them the best time of the year for many: vacation. To avoid any nasty surprises when entering your vacation destination, the town of Kevelaer recommends that all citizens check the validity of their identity documents in good time.
Apply in good time - avoid waiting times
The processing time for new passports can take several weeks, depending on the volume of applications. Longer processing times are to be expected, especially shortly before the start of the vacations. Early application ensures planning security and less stress.
Important: Children's passports have been abolished
Children's passports will no longer be issued from January 1, 2024. For travel outside the EU, children will need a regular passport, which must also be applied for in good time.
Have your photo taken directly on site
A current biometric passport photo is required for the application. The Kevelaer Citizens' Office now offers a convenient photo service on site. For 6 euros, the photo is digitally transferred directly to the application. Of course, you can still bring your own passport photos as long as they meet the biometric requirements.
