Apply now! New senior citizens' council to be elected!

With the new legislative period for the council of the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer, a new Seniors' Advisory Council will also be elected in November. Interested persons can apply for membership of the Seniors' Advisory Council until October 3, 2025.

The Seniors' Advisory Council

The Seniors' Advisory Council represents the interests and concerns of senior citizens in the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer. It is concerned with anchoring the topics of "ageing" and "old age" as a cross-cutting issue in local politics so that the needs of older people are taken into account. However, the aim of the work is also to improve and promote the interaction between young and old in the pilgrimage town.

The Senior Citizens' Advisory Council consists of thirteen members elected by the council of the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer and one representative from each of the council groups. Deputies support the work of the Senior Citizens' Advisory Council and can attend the meetings, which take place regularly every two months, in an advisory capacity. It is also possible to apply for a deputy position only.

Prerequisite for election

Any person who has reached the age of 55 by October 3, 2025 and has been registered as a resident of Kevelaer for at least three months can become a member of the Seniors' Advisory Council.

Candidates require ten supporting signatures from fellow citizens who are also at least 55 years old and have been registered in Kevelaer for three months. However, you can also be nominated by institutions, associations or clubs that are active in the social and senior citizens' sector. Alternatively: You can also be nominated by institutions, associations or clubs that are active in the social and senior citizens' sector.

The application deadline is October 3, 2025. By this date, all interested parties must have submitted their complete application, including supporting signatures. An appointment committee will then draw up a proposal for the Council. Care will be taken to ensure a balanced number of members according to gender, place of residence and association and party affiliations. At its constituent meeting on November 4, 2025, the council of the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer will then elect the new members of the Seniors' Advisory Council.
