Discover the world of work - Girls' and Boys' Day in the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer

"Equal rights begin with young people finding their way freely and without pigeonholing," emphasized Mayor Dr. Dominik Pichler in his welcoming address. "It is important that girls and boys know and experience the diversity of the professional world - regardless of traditional role stereotypes."

Equal Opportunities Officer Christiane Peulen and Head of Human Resources Werner Barz also made it clear that the day of action is intended to encourage people to discover professions that go beyond the usual expectations. "The pilgrimage town of Kevelaer offers training opportunities in a wide variety of areas," said Barz.

Join in and try things out
From lighting and sound technology in the concert hall and stage house to pool operations and the depot - the schoolgirls gained practical experience in exciting fields of work on Girls' Day.

At the same time, the boys discovered the varied world of administration and tourism on Boys' Day. Whether in the brine garden, in the building regulations field service or in the job center - the students learned that administrative work means much more than just "everyday office life" and that dealing with people plays a central role.

"There was a lot of enthusiasm and we hope that the young people took away a lot of new impressions," says Christiane Peulen. "Perhaps we were also able to encourage them to follow their own career path later on."
