Registration of residence
Service description
You must register if you are moving to Kevelaer from outside the pilgrimage town. You must also register if you "only" declare Kevelaer as your secondary residence.
Anyone moving into an apartment must register with the registration office within two weeks of moving in. As a rule, registrations can only be completed in person. In exceptional cases, registration can also be carried out by a representative with power of attorney. Late registration is subject to a warning or fine.
A change of residence status occurs when you declare your existing secondary residence to be your main residence and at the same time declare your previous main residence to be a secondary residence or vice versa. This declaration must always be made at the main residence.
