Deregistration of residence abroad

    If you give up your residence in Kevelaer, you must deregister.

    Anyone who moves out of an apartment and does not move into a new apartment in Germany must deregister with the registration office within two weeks of moving out. As a rule, deregistration can only be carried out in person. In exceptional cases, deregistration can be carried out by proxy.

    Deregistration is required in the following cases:

    • Moving abroad
    • Abandonment of a secondary residence
      (Note: deregistration must take place at the registration office of the main residence)
    • Notification "without permanent residence"

    • Identity documents of all persons
    • Declaration of consent for minor children, if applicable

    You can change your vehicle registration certificate, which is also mandatory, at the vehicle registration office.
