Open all-day school (OGS)
All elementary school offer the option of having children looked after in the open all-day elementary school(OGS).
The open all-day school in the primary sector (elementary school) offers extracurricular activities in addition to the scheduled lessons on school days, on days without lessons (except Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays) and, if required, during the vacations.
Every child who attends the first grade in the 2026/2027 school year or in the following school years is entitled to support in a day care facility from the start of school until the start of the fifth grade (Section 24 (4) SGB VIII). The child's entitlement to support in day facilities is deemed to be fulfilled to the extent of the lessons and the offers of the all-day elementary school, including the open all-day elementary school.
As a rule, the time frame extends from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the latest, but at least until 3:00 p.m. on all school days. The OGS offers additional educational, support and leisure activities on all school days from 12:00 to 16:00.

How much is the monthly parental contribution for the OGS?
The amount of the monthly parental contribution is based on the following income levels, which apply until 31.07.2026 in accordance with the statutes on the collection of parental contributions:

At its meeting on 24.02.2026, the council of the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer decided to increase the parental contributions for the open all-day school from the 2026/2027 school year. The parental contributions applicable from 01.08.2026 are based on the following income levels:

The parental contribution is determined according to actual income; proof of income must be provided accordingly. The parental contribution is determined by notice from the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer.
How much does lunch cost?
The cost contribution for lunch is charged in addition to the parental contribution for participation in the OGS program. The provider is responsible for handling and providing the lunch. The fixed fee is collected directly from the parents by the provider.
Reliable half-day (VHT)
In addition to the open all-day program, all elementary school also offer a reliable half-day program (VHT).
In addition to the scheduled lessons on all school days, this form of care includes care until the end of the 6th period on days when there are no lessons (except Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays). This is usually from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. on all school days, taking into account the general teaching time.
Lunch together and homework supervision are expressly not part of the reliable half-day.
How much is the monthly parental contribution for the VHT?
The amount of the monthly parental contribution for the VHT is € 55.00 for the first child until 31.07.2026, regardless of income. Half of the contribution is due for the second child. No parental contribution is charged for the third and each additional child.

The amount of the monthly parental contribution for the reliable half-day is € 60.00 for the first child from 01.08.2026, regardless of income. Half of the contribution is due for the second child. No parental contribution is charged for the third and each additional child.
What vacation childcare is available and how much is the parental contribution?
During the vacations, it is also possible to make use of vacation care. For this, the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer charges an additional fee of € 60.00 per child and per vacation week until 31.07.2026. Half of the contribution is due for the second child. No parental contribution is charged for the third and each additional child.

From 01.08.2026, an additional fee of € 80.00 per child and per vacation week will be charged for additional vacation care. Half of the contribution is due for the second child. No parental contribution is charged for the third and each additional child.
A separate notification will be issued about the booked vacation care.

Parents/guardians must register their child for participation in extracurricular activities in writing with the respective school or OGS site management.
Registration is binding for the entire school year (01.08. - 31.07.).
For the use of the open all-day school and the reliable half-day, parental contributions are charged in accordance with the current version of the statutes of the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer for charging parental contributions.
