Orange the World - Orange Days
Once a year, our city lights up in bright orange - and for good reason: orange is the color of the global "Orange the World" campaign by UN Women, an organization of the United Nations. Since 1991, it has been a visible symbol against violence against women and girls - in all its forms.
Current figures still show how urgently this commitment is needed. That is why we as a town are also showing our colors - out of conviction and with heart. Because change begins on a small scale: here with us, in Kevelaer. And with you!
From November 25, the International Day against Violence against Women, to December 10, the International Day of Human Rights, Orange Days will take place worldwide - and Kevelaer will light up with them.
Join in - set an example!
A strong statement doesn't need much: above all, attitude and the courage to show your colors.
Here are a few ideas on how you can get involved:
- Decoration: Design your own windows, buildings, benches or other places in orange - with light, paint, fabrics or other materials.
- Outfit: Wear orange clothing or accessories.
- Information material: Display posters, flyers and background information on the campaign and the topic.
- You can find downloads, for example, from the "Breaking the Silence" helpline or from UN Women.
- Our Equal Opportunities Officer Christiane Peulen will also be happy to provide you with material.

Becoming visible together
Share your commitment here. Enter who you are and how you are involved - we look forward to presenting your campaign.
By the way...
The color orange was chosen deliberately: It stands for hope, warmth and a brighter future without violence. This is exactly what we are working towards together - visibly and with bright conviction.
